Adam Pate - Deputy Head of Primary School Nivki campus
Adam has a Degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Portsmouth and a GTP Diploma in Primary Education from the University of Wolverhampton. After having completed his probationary year as a teacher in England, he moved to Nigeria in 2007 to work at the Children`s International School in Lagos where he met his wife. Following a brief stay in Cairo, he arrived in Kiev in November 2010 to teach within the Primary Sector at BISU.
Adam has always greatly enjoyed the challenge to push children, to fulfill their great potential, this is what he likes most about his work in Kiev. He strongly believes that learning should be fun but kept within the parameters of a clear level of behavior.
Justin Kilcullen-Nichols - Deputy Head of Secondary School Nivki campus
Justin is from a small town in the Home Counties called Newbury. He attended the University of Portsmouth where he read Marine Biology before moving into the teaching profession with a PGCE. Justin has taught on the international circuit for most of his career, working in Qatar, Romania and most recently Prague in the capacity of Head of Science. An experienced IB, A-Level, IGCSE and KS3 teacher, Justin has excelled in providing students with the help and assistance they need to excel in their studies as well as mentoring and advising other teachers in his role as a visiting consultant to other international schools.
Justin has recently taken up Archery due to the lack of oceans in the Czech Republic, and has a passion for driving petrol driven machines ever since his first race at Losail International.
Elena Tovkun - Head of Ukrainian programme
Elena is a Ukrainian citizen and comes from the beautiful city of Kyiv. After receiving her Honors diploma from the Kyiv Taras Shevchenko State University she took her first post teaching Russian as a foreign language in Hungary. Elena enjoyed this international experience very much. Upon her return to Ukraine, Elena started teaching at Kyiv National Economic University, where she shared her knowledge with students of various nationalities. Since the year 2000, Elena worked in the British International School (BISU). In addition to her responsibilities as a teacher, Elena has taken up the position of Exams Officer, administrating Cambridge exams and ensuring that the Ukrainian graduates of BISU have equal opportunities with graduates of international schools all over the world. BISU is the only school in Ukraine to be accredited by CIE to conduct Cambridge examinations.
Elena is married and has two daughters. Her older daughter has recently returned from her graduate study in Germany to work in Ukraine. Her youngest daughter has just started university in Kyiv.
